Bereavement Ministry at Good Shepherd

Even with the hope of the resurrection we all experience pain and sorrow when a loved one dies.  Sharing the burden of grief with other mourning members of Christ's body can lead to deep healing and a renewed sense of hope.

Healing Together takes place at 10:30 am and 7:30 pm in the church's prayer chapel on the fourth Monday of each month.

The group will be convened by Pastor Olsen.

"You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy..."     Psalm 30:11

      The Shepherds Table

Good Shepherd has a ministry to the seniors residing in the Town of Oyster Bay Shepherd Hill Apartments. It is an opportunity for our seniors and other interested members to simply join persons living on the other side of our parking lot to share some time and have a light lunch together. Sandwiches, salad, and a desert are served. A $3 donation is suggested.

We join with them every other Thursday at noon. See the Church calendar for specific dates.

Soul Food - Have You Considered Hosting a Coffee Hour?

Fellowship on Sunday does not just encompass fellowship with God, but also fellowship with one another, chatting with old friends as well as making connections with new ones.

It is to that end that I have changed, slightly, the system of the coffee hour sign-up sheet. As of January, all committees have been alphabetized to host the first and last Sundays of each month. If you want to celebrate, make a remembrance, say "thank you," or just do a family day - this is your time to fill in the other spaces.

**Don't be left out of this easy way to be involved**

There are easy-to-follow instructions on the table in the narthex. I sincerely hope you find yourself free to add this fellowship to your life's schedule. Any questions, feel free to call me at 631-661- 8879.

Peace,
Karin Kienle

Pastor Olsen is leads an interesting and enlightening Bible Study using a study methodology called "Lectio Divina" that incorporates reading/listening, meditation, prayer, and contemplation. Each week a chapter of a book of the Bible is studied and often overlooked words are brought to life opening new perspectives of God's Word. During the summer months we read some of the lesser read Epistles including the books of James and First and Second Timothy. We will next tackle the rich text of Paul's Letter to the Romans and in the spring move onto the Gospel of Mark.

Why not join us?  Find out some of the things you've been missing. You will walk away with a greater understanding of the Church, Your Faith. and Your relationship to God. Plan come to one of the two sessions each Thursday; one at 10:30 in the morning or one at 7:30 in the evening.
